Kassie's Baby Shower - Jackson Carter! | McKinney Family Photographer | Rebecca Rice Photography

When you're an expecting mom, you hit a season of your pregnancy where you go into overdrive planning for your little one's arrival! You begin to get all of their clothes sorted and washed, the nursery put together and organized, photoshoots scheduled. It's such an exciting time!

I'm a planner through and through, but my planning seemed to go on overdrive during my pregnancy. From what I observed about Kassie during this time, she's the same way...AND I LOVE IT! What I've found as a fellow planner is that we can plan and plan all we want, but sometimes life still takes unexpected turns. Such was the case for Kassie and sweet baby Jax!

Jackson Carter Sanders was due in April. Kassie, the planner that she is, had everything in place. She had the nursery theme decided and in the works, the baby shower scheduled and ready to go, and of course, her maternity photoshoot scheduled. A couple of weeks before the baby shower and maternity shoots were to happen, some unexpected circumstances began to unfold and Mr. Jackson made his grand entrance into the world 9 weeks early! Although he is tiny, he is a little fighter getting stronger and stronger every day!

It's not everyday that you get to attend a baby shower...and the baby has already been born! But since life threw a curveball, everyone adjusted and continued on with the plan. Last weekend we got to shower baby Jax and the Sanders family with lots of love and premie clothes! Kassie told me she wanted every detail doccumented, so that's what she got! (I LOVE detail shots!) As I went around capturing the smallest details for Kassie to treasure forever, I saw something that stuck with me. Aside from the overflow of new baby gifts and adorable shower decor chosen by Kassie's mom, I saw Kassie surrounded by the sweetest and most supportive family I've ever seen. The love in the room was so evident. This time is very stressful for the new mama as she floats back and forth between home and the NICU, but I'm comforted in knowing that she's got such a great support system beside her.

Kassie, you are so strong. You are so resilient. You work so hard everyday and you still manage to love on your new little peanut every chance you get. It has been such an honor to follow along in your journey as your family has grown! Even though things didn't quite go as you had expected or hoped for, you have kept a great attitude of faith every step of the way. I am so excited for what God has in store for baby Jax! I know he's going to do great things one day.

And now we count down the days until his Leaving-the-NICU Photoshoot!! It will be here before we know it!
