It was a Friday afternoon, and not your typical sight in Fort Worth. With pointe shoes on, camera in hand and Maddie strapped to me in her Moby wrap, Katie and I set out for an adventure! We got a few stares as Katie danced around a city we were unfamiliar with, but we had so much fun! Our goal: to get as many cool shots of her dancing in front of architecture as we could before the sun set.
We had to get pretty creative a few times, and Katie sure was a trooper! Our adventures took her from standing on a ledge in front of a beautiful wall outside of the Kimbell Art Museum and balancing on a sketchy stairwell to fitting on the inside of a cool window outside of the Post Office. There were lots of laughs, awkward looks, and babbles from Maddie as we galavanted around Fort Worth!
Out of all the places we found, my favorite ended up being the one I least expected to love...the T&P Train Station! My original plan was to get photos inside of a beautiful foyer area up front. I had the poses planned out in my head and knew exactly how it would all come together...or so I thought. When we pulled up to go inside, we found an event being set up in the very spot I needed!! What were we going to do?! We walked around a bit and found ourselves inside of the train station. The white walls were lined with grime so thick that Katie slid her fingers down the wall and had to clean her hands. People were hurrying to catch the train to go see the Stars game. We were hesitant but decided to give it a try. I set my camera settings, Katie posed, and we held our breath. As I looked at the picture I had just captured (fully expecting to laugh and move on) we were shocked at what we saw! The grimy walls that once disgusted us actually set the stage for a beautiful, clean photo! We squealed with excitement and hurried to take more!
It goes to show, never judge a book by its cover. There are hidden gems everywhere. If we hadn't given the grimy walls a chance, we would have missed a great photo spot, and an even better story! Katie, thanks for going on an adventure with me on your day off! The photos we captured made it all worth it!
